Otago Polytechnic will mark fifty years as a tertiary education provider in 2016.  During those fifty years, the Polytechnic has gone from strength to strength and we are immensely proud of our journey to date. Join us to celebrate these amazing achievements!

Formal Opening of The Hub

The first major commemorative event celebrating Otago Polytechnic’s 50th Anniversary has taken place with the official opening of The Hub and Mason Centre. Read more about this successful landmark event here.

Otago Polytechnic celebrated its 50th Anniversary and the outstanding contributions of 19 of its former students by presenting them with Distinguished Alumni Awards at the inaugural Distinguished Alumni Ceremony on 8 April, 2016.

Food Design 29 June - 1 July

International Food Design Conference

Our second International Food Design Conference and Studio has been described as an "outrageous success" by organiser Professor Richard Mitchell from the Food Design Institute.

With a range of exceptional keynote speakers including Al Brown, Marije Vogelzang and Michael Ade Elegbede, the three-day experience attracted 150 delegates this year - up from the 100 who attended the inaugural event in 2014.

The programme also featured lectures and hands-on workshops looking at the people who grow, harvest, manufacture, cook and deliver our food.
