Official hub opening a success

The first major commemorative event celebrating Otago Polytechnic’s 50th anniversary has taken place with the official opening of The Hub and Mason Centre.

Distinguished alumnus Nigel Bamford, co-founder and Chief Executive of Dunedin based gas-fire manufacturing company Escea, unveiled the plaque and founding member of the 1966 Otago Polytechnic council, 101 year old Dawn Ibbotson, cut the anniversary cake. 

A time capsule was buried in the ground containing future campus plans, 2016 Programme Guide, 2015 Annual Report, 2015 M¯aori Report, Research Report, USB containing Otago Polytechnic marketing videos and TV commercials, Otago Polytechnic 50th digital story, Otago Polytechnic wine, Otago Polytechnic T-shirt and pen, photo of Polykids children, 50th commemorative flyer.

It’s one of many events celebrating Otago Polytechnic’s golden anniversary this year including the inaugural Alumni Distinguished Awards and function night on Friday, 8th April at the Hub.
