Te Pūkenga Network

Otago Polytechnic is part of Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (Te Pūkenga).

Update - December 2023

You may have seen the recent news of the new Government's intention to disestablish Te Pūkenga | New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology.

Otago Polytechnic is committed to ensuring that organisational changes that need to be made to meet the Government's expectations do not impact your learning and your experience with us.

As details of how this change will be implemented are worked through, we want to reassure you that all programmes of study or training will continue as planned.

Our excellent learner services, support and facilities are all readily available and we are committed to continuing to serve our communities and stakeholders.

Te Pūkenga are currently compiling a list of FAQs which they will be publishing on their website as soon as possible.

Please email any questions you may have to communications@op.ac.nz so we can pass these along to Te Pūkenga.

About Te Pūkenga

From 01 November 2022, all references to Otago Polytechnic on this website (and any documentation linked through this website) need to be read as references to Te Pūkenga and its Otago Polytechnic business division.

Te Pūkenga brings the Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (ITPs) and the arranging training activities of certain Industry Training Organisations (ITOs) together to create a national network. This will give learners more choices and flexibility in what, where, and how they learn.

Existing Otago Polytechnic ākonga (learners) will be enrolled with Te Pūkenga automatically in the same qualification and will continue to learn in the same way, in the same place, with the same people.

Learners should note that all programmes offered across Te Pūkenga are under review to ensure they are portable, consistent and aligned with the needs of industry and may be changed. Where there are changes to programmes that you have applied to enrol in, you will be notified of these changes.
