Construction programme hosts distinguished visitor
Pamela Bell, CEO of NZIOB, visited Te Hoki for a discussion about engagement opportunities.
Pamela Bell, who established PrefabNZ and is now CEO of the New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB), made a visit to our campus last week. The goal of the visit was to discuss how to increase engagement between our construction programme and NZIOB.
NZIOB is a well-known membership-based industry body that connects the construction sector and facilitates development and innovation. Connecting with NZIOB helps keep our ākonga and kaimahi at the cutting edge of industry.
“NZIOB is very active in supporting our students and engaging staff in industry events,” says Rehan Masood, a Senior Lecturer in the Construction Programme.
“Industry engagement brings value and currency to the construction qualifications with information on advancements in technologies and practices.”
Pamela met with Adrian Tetlow, Head of Programmes for Construction Management and Engineering, and they had a productive discussion. Pamela expressed admiration for the mass timber construction of Te Hoki. There will be upcoming NZIOB events held at OP, and other ideas for future development included podcasts, workshops and seminars.
Connecting students with industry organisations facilitates learning and networking opportunities. We look forward to the future opportunities our relationship with NZIOB will provide.
