New Zealand (domestic) students' step-by-step guide
Please note: We're working hard to improve the online application process. We thank you for your patience during this time and if you have any questions please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
Step 1 : apply
Select the programme you wish to study.
- Complete the application form online.
- Download an application form from our website, or fill out the one provided with our programme guide. Mail the completed form to one of the addresses at the bottom of this page.
Step 2 : acknowledgement of your application
If your application has been successful:
When your application has been received you will be sent a letter of acknowledgment within five working days. This letter will also let you know when you should expect to have your place on your chosen programme confirmed. If the programme is full, you will be added to a wait list.
If your application has been unsuccessful:
You will be notified by mail. Reasons may include that you have not supplied all the information that we require, or your application does not meet the entry requirements of the programme. We encourage you to contact us immediately so we can assist you with resubmitting your application or finding you another suitable programme to enrol in.
Step 3 : confirmation of your details
If you have been offered a place on your chosen programme of study, you will receive a letter confirming the details of your programme. It is important that you confirm that you wish to be enrolled onto the programme now.
Step 4 : programme details and timelines
Once we receive confirmation that you wish to be enrolled, we will send you an enrolment pack with details of your programme. An invoice will be sent to you as soon as next year's fees are confirmed.
Step 5 : you're enrolled – payment of fees
You will need to arrange payment of your fees to secure your place on your programme. This can be done via online banking, by sending a cheque to Otago Polytechnic or by paying at our Customer Services Desk. If you are paying your fees with the help of a Student Loan, we recommend you arrange this immediately.
Step 6 : you're ready to study
Congratulations – you’re ready to study at Otago Polytechnic. We will contact you closer to your start date to confirm we have received your payment, and with the details of your timetable. In the meantime, if you have any questions about your enrolment, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Services team.
