Offered through Capable NZ (our College of Work-Based Learning), our range of work-based programmes ensures that people with work experience but no qualification to match, have the chance to gain an NZQA qualification in record time. A traditional degree can take three years of full-time study but you can achieve a work-based learning degree in as little as 10 months of full-time study!

We have monthly intakes, you can study from anywhere, you can choose to learn full-time or part-time, and you can get financial support through Studylink and funding initiatives like Fees Free.

Administration

New Zealand Diploma in Business (Administration and Technology) (Level 5)

6 months full-time / 12 months part-time

This qualification proves you have the knowledge and skills to plan, organise and manage business administration functions, operations and/or projects. As a graduate, you’ll be able to select, apply and support a broad range of current and emerging business technologies to meet an organisation’s needs, and know how to manage, analyse, evaluate and improve administrative systems and processes. 

Construction

New Zealand Diploma in Construction (Level 6) (Construction Management)

10 months full-time / 18-20 months part-time

Are you an experienced construction management professional? This qualification is awarded to learners with recognised knowledge and skills as an experienced practitioner in construction management. As a graduate, you’ll demonstrate an advanced ability in general construction management, and be able to develop construction plans and methodologies, and display critical thinking capabilities and an organised approach to problem solving.

Design

Bachelor of Design (Communication) (Fashion) or (Product)

10 months full-time / 18-20 months part-time

Are you an experienced design professional? This degree will reflect your talent, expertise and significant experience in your specialist area of Design – either Communication, Fashion or Product Design. You’ll develop a portfolio that demonstrates your technical skills and knowledge and complete a design project in your chosen field of specialty. 

Engineering

Bachelor of Engineering Technology

10 months full-time / 18-20 months part-time

Are you an experienced engineer technician? This degree will endorse and extend your knowledge and skills in your area of engineering expertise. As a graduate, you’ll demonstrate a deep understanding of modern technology and practice in your chosen specialty. You’ll further develop management, economics, communications, problem solving and critical thinking skills for application in the workplace. This degree meets national and international engineering standards. 

Information Technology

Bachelor of Information Technology

10 months full-time / 18-20 months part-time

Are you an experienced IT professional? This degree will endorse and extend your knowledge and skills in IT across a broad spectrum of the industry including infrastructure and software. You’ll develop a portfolio that showcases your professional practice and complete a new learning project in the workplace, and you’ll learn new skills in addition to those gained through your work. 

Leadership and Management

New Zealand Diploma in Business (Leadership and Management) (Level 5)

6 months full-time / 12 months part-time

Are you an operational manager – a team leader, supervisor or first line manager? This qualification recognises those with established knowledge and experience in contributing to an organisation’s operational performance. As a graduate, you’ll be a self-aware, motivated, flexible and experienced practitioner who’ll be of benefit to New Zealand business entities. You’ll demonstrate business competencies including problem solving, decision-making, negotiating and using technology effectively. 

Bachelor of Applied Management

10 months full-time / 18-20 months part-time

This degree will validate and extend your knowledge and skills as an experienced management and leadership practitioner. As a graduate, you'll demonstrate a sound understanding of the dynamic and changing environment in which managers operate. You'll be ready and able to apply that knowledge at operational and strategic levels in a range of industries and organisations.

Professional Practice

Graduate Diploma in Professional Practice

10 months full-time / 18-20 months part-time

Are you experienced in your professional field? Use the real-life experiences from your professional life as rich learning material. You’ll identify a challenge or goal in your work environment to research and then develop and implement an approach for resolving it. This qualification is perfect for advancing your professional career. What’s more, you can apply a Graduate Diploma in Professional Practice to virtually any discipline or sector.  

Master of Professional Practice

2 years full-time / 18-20 months part-time

Are you an experienced practitioner in your sector? Use the real-life experiences from your professional life as rich learning material. You’ll identify a challenge or goal in your work environment to research and then develop and implement an approach for resolving it. This qualification is perfect for advancing your professional career. What’s more, you can apply a Master of Professional Practice to virtually any discipline or sector. 

Doctor of Professional Practice

3-4 years full-time / 6-8 years part-time

Are you an advanced practitioner ready to make a significant contribution to your sector or community? Generate substantial original knowledge from and about practices within a professional setting and combine this with formal disciplinary knowledge. Your new knowledge will inform yourself, your field of practice and your profession. You’ll design and achieve new professional and personal learning goals, enabling you to create new knowledge for and about New Zealand’s workplaces through applied practice and research projects.  

Social Services

Bachelor of Social Services

10 months full-time / 18-20 months part-time

Are you an experienced social services professional? This degree will endorse and extend your knowledge and skills in your chosen specialty, progressively enhancing and deepening your understanding. As a graduate, you’ll be ready and able to incorporate your learning into an integrated and intentional model of practice in the workplace.
