Dunedin Campus
The student capital of New Zealand and one of the country’s best centres of learning. Ōtepoti (Dunedin) is a city that revolves around you – a safe and friendly place to study. Our Dunedin campus is located in the heart of 'student-ville' and '10 minutes from anywhere' as locals would say.
An environment that revolves around you
Dunedin is home to about 25,000 students – approximately 20% of the city’s population – giving an energetic student culture, yet a highly regarded study experience, which welcomes you with open arms.
Surround yourself with like-minded students, all starting their study journey just like you. Make new friends, find new hobbies, and enjoy the student experience our campuses have to offer.
Dunedin is New Zealand's incubator for IT, entrepreneurship, and fashion. The city’s warehouse precinct is attracting creatives, engineers, IT start ups and small businesses, so it makes sense to study here.
Our Forth Street campus
Our Dunedin Campus is located on Forth street, which is right in the heart of the student district – yet a 10 minute walk to the city centre. We have bright open spaces, modern facilities and our own on campus cafés, food trucks and restaurant.
Study spaces and specialised facilities
On campus you’ll find study rooms, training facilities, classrooms, libraries and student support services, along with all the necessities for a successful study experience.
Our students get access to specialised study facilities too, art barns, nursing suites, gyms and sports fields, game design studios and edible living gardens, it's all on campus.
There’s also free wi-fi and computer labs across campus there for you to make the most out of your study experience.
Sustainable campus
Take a stroll through our edible living gardens to pick some fresh herbs, explore composting options over at ‘Pōpopo Wormporium’, our onsite worm farm, and grab a coffee and a bite to eat from Eden, our single-use free, cafe in The Hub.
Accommodation
Where you live makes a big difference to your student experience. Fortunately, there are loads of great options.
Te Pā Tauira, our Dunedin Student Village, is a home-away-from-home for our students, providing comfortable, and secure accommodation.

“I’m not sure if I will ever get a chance to be part of a vibrant community like this again. There is someone looking out for us all the time.”

Sports and Recreation facilities
The Sargood Centre and Unipol Recreation Centre are just a short walk from campus and we’re situated right next to the Dunedin Stadium. The Sargood Centre boasts our own gym, along with cricket grounds, rugby fields and hockey turfs.
Unipol is the shared recreation venue we have with the Uni. With another gym, fitness classes, weights and cardio rooms, you’ll be spoilt for choice! And, when you fancy some chill time between study, there’s snooker and pool tables, and full-size courts for basketball, volleyball and badminton.
The best part is you get free access to all of this with your OP student ID card.
And if all that makes you feel hungry, there’s always a good feed to be had with our student-run food trucks, pop-up student markets and the edible living gardens!
Clubs and Societies
Otago Polytechnic students have access to the Otago University Student Association's Clubs and Societies Centre. Here you can join any number of interesting cultural clubs, take a fitness class, learn a language or a new skill, or sign up for a sports team. The venue is great, with heaps of meeting spaces available for you to book. Clubs and Socs is also the base of the famous-in-Dunedin $4 lunch, available Monday to Friday.
