Theme
The theme for the NeuroAbility Symposium 2025 is Solutions. We are excited to host two extraordinary key note speakers, Fran Kewene and Dr Jessica Tupou, both from Te Herenga Waka, Victoria Unviersity. They will korero about their collaboration with Te Pou Herenga—a kaupapa Māori rōpū (group) dedicated to advancing Māori-led autism research. The presentation will explore how culturally grounded methodologies, whakawhanaungatanga (relationship-building), and mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge systems) have informed their research process and outcomes. Key insights will highlight disparities in data collection, the importance of culturally responsive frameworks, and the voices of whānau Māori navigating autism.
We have over 30 presentations, workshops and panels – focusing on tertiary education, transition, education in the workplace, all our presenters are sharing knowledge and effective practices. We have contributions from across institutes of technology and polytechnics, universities, wānanga, TEOs, ACEs, PTEs, and international communities. Our sponsours Ako Aotearoa New Zealand and Otago Polytecnic mean our registration costs for two days is only $65. We have also partnered with iNDx – and all registrants are invited to the opening at Turoha museum at the close of the symposium, here.
