Frequently asked questions

What should I do if I’m having trouble paying my fees?

If you are having trouble paying your fees, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing accountsreceivable@op.ac.nz.

What happens if I can’t pay my fees on time?

Fees are due for payment on or before the date listed on your invoice. This is generally the start date of your programme – get in touch with us if you’re not sure when your fees are due for payment.

If you believe your fee payment may be delayed, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing accountsreceivable@op.ac.nz. If you have already arranged payment through a StudyLink loan, payment may be processed after the due date listed.

How can I confirm you have received my payment?

Receipts aren’t issued automatically. You can check your Financials in Kāpehu, or contact us if you need confirmation of payment or a receipt.

Can family members overseas pay my fees on my behalf?

Fees may be paid by a family member or someone acting on your behalf. Make sure they include your student ID number with the payment so that we know who it is for. Please note that we cannot provide your personal information to anyone other than you – including invoices or enrolment details – without your express consent.

I’m paying my fees through StudyLink or I’m expecting my fees to be covered, why did I receive an invoice?

We send an invoice to all enrolling students for your records. This is so you have a record of your full study costs – as long as you have made arrangements to have your fees paid, you do not need to take any action. We will contact you if there is anything further needed.

If I overpay my fees, how do I get a refund?

We will contact you to organise a refund of any overpayment, and it will be refunded into the account that the payment was from. Contact us if you have any questions about your account.

If I withdraw, do I get a full or partial refund, and how long will that take?

If you withdraw before the start of your programme, you are usually able to request a full refund. Administration fees may apply.

If you withdraw during your programme, please be aware that each course has its own deadline for withdrawal with a refund of the course fees – please refer to your invoice for more details, or contact us. If you withdraw after this date, no refund will be given.

Are there any scholarships available?

Yes! You can search our scholarships page to find out what scholarships we have available, and how to apply.

Can international students apply for scholarships?

Yes! We offer a range of scholarships specifically for international students. Find out what we have available on our scholarships for international students page.

How long will international bank transfers take?

International bank transfers can take some time. Please allow 10 business days for the transfer to be recieved.
