Purpose-built for our Dunedin students in 2018, our on-campus Student Village is called Te Pā Tauira, and it's the perfect home for you to enjoy student life to the fullest within an exciting and supportive community.

Te Pā Tauira, is our 231-bed, furnished residential village, purpose-built for Otago Polytechnic students in a prime location - Its literally on our Dunedin campus. You’ll enjoy a short walk to class and still be just minutes away from the city centre, libraries, gyms and sports grounds.

You’ll also meet lots of new people and become part of a great student community.

Te Pā Tauira provides:

  • a safe and secure environment with swipe cards and staff on-site 24/7
  • a unique residential life programme, recreational facilities and organised events
  • catering packages available
  • free WiFi
  • inclusive internet and power – so no surprise bills
  • optional study tutorials to help you stay on top of your coursework
  • the opportunity to meet a new and diverse group of friends

Accommodation Scholarship

In 2025, the Otago Polytechnic Education Foundation established the DSA Foundation Legacy Scholarship to assist learners entering the Bachelor of Visual Arts at Otago Polytechnic and residing at Te Pā Tauira.

Rooms and rates - 2026

We offer 41-week, 40-week, semester 1 and semester 2 accommodation agreements.

Fees are to be paid by Full Year, Semester or Quarterly payments.

Dorm Room (Catered)
King single bed; desk, drawers, chair and wardrobe; shared dining hall; shared living spaces; shared bathroom
$499 per week
Ensuite Room (Catered)
King single bed; desk, drawers, chair and wardrobe; en-suite bathroom;
$524 per week
Studio (Standard - self-catered)
Queen bed, TV, desk, drawers, chair and wardrobe; en-suite bathroom; kitchenette
from $421 per week
Deluxe Studio (self-catered)
Queen bed; TV, table, armchair, desk, drawers, chair and wardrobe; en-suite bathroom; kitchenette.
from $442 per week
Apartment - 4 bedroom (self-catered)
Private room with a king single bed; desk, drawers, chair and wardrobe, kitchen, shared lounge and two bathrooms.
from $371 per week
Catering option for self-catered rooms
10 Weeks (3 meals a day) GST included.
One-off and other options are also available.
$150 per week

Initial fees: A one-off Administration Fee ($200) is payable when accepting your offer at the Village, as well as a Residents’ Association Fee ($350) and a Contingency Fee ($300, refundable on departure subject to you having paid all other amounts under your residential agreement).

Constructed with the environment firmly in mind with sustainable materials used throughout, Te Pā Tauira was built in 2018. It includes a range of fully catered single rooms, studios and apartments.

Great support

Your safety is our top priority. We have staff available 24/7. Only residents can enter the building via a secure swipe card and take advantage of secure bike storage and car parking (limited).
