Should I choose Domestic or International?
Whether you are a domestic or international student determines your programme options, fees and funding possibilities.


We will ask for your citizenship and residency information during your application process. It is important that you select the correct option when you apply so that you see the correct programmes and fees.
Please use your current status to select whether you are a domestic or international student. If this changes while you are studying you can update your information with us.
If you have any questions about your specific situation, please get in touch.
Select Domestic if:
- You are a New Zealand citizen.
- You are a citizen of Cook Islands, Tokelau, and Niue.
- You are a New Zealand permanent resident living in New Zealand.
- You hold a New Zealand residence-class visa and live in New Zealand.
- You are an Australian citizen or permanent resident living in New Zealand for full duration of your study.
- You are a refugee or protected person, or have submitted a claim for that status (get in touch to discuss your situation and the documents we will require).
Please note that New Zealand resident class visa holders living outside New Zealand while studying are considered international students
Select International if:

- You are a citizen or permanent resident of a country outside of New Zealand, Australia, Cook Islands, Tokelau, or Niue.
- You hold a non-residence class visa for New Zealand.
- You are an Australian citizen or permanent resident living outside of New Zealand during your study.
- You are a New Zealand permanent resident living outside of New Zealand during your study.
