Services & facilities
To enhance your student experience at Otago Polytechnic, we make sure that you have access to awesome student spaces, great equipment, and new technologies, along with advice, support, and assistance before, during and after your studies.
Facilities
At our Dunedin Campus, The Hub is at the heart of student life and is a great place to relax, eat, hang out and meet people.
One of our campus cafés (Eden) is here – and we also have AKO (our student training café) and Hīnaki (over in O Block). There’s free WiFi and computer labs and the library is right next door so learning spaces are easy to find.
We know that studying is only part of what you do so we make sure we provide cultural, social, recreational and practical areas too. We have breastfeeding rooms and interfaith rooms, a space for our Pasifika learners, a dedicated Māori Centre, and a sports centre and fitness facilities only a 5 min walk from campus.
Our campus is also surrounded by our Living Campus edible gardens so you can chill out in green spaces and pick some fresh veggies for your dinner.
At our Cromwell Campus, our common rooms are a great social space to catch up with friends over coffee. There’s free WiFi across campus and amazing access to the surrounding Central Otago landscape and hubs like Queenstown and Wānaka.
Services
Ensuring you have all the support you need while studying is our priority. We offer a wide variety of support services for on campus or online students which includes our IT Service Desk for when you need help with your computer/email set up etc.
Along with learning and personal wellbeing support, we also have a Student Health Centre at our Dunedin Campus. This provides the same services as your family doctor. And, we know that many students need to fit study around other life commitments so we have an on-campus childcare centre too (Polykids).
Programme-specific facilities
Classrooms don’t have to be lecture theatres. Our students learn by doing and get the best-of-the-best when it comes to facilities and training spaces.
Art barns and design studios
Create, design, and express yourself in a space you can call your own. We have eight studio areas on our Dunedin Campus, varying from ceramics to electronic arts.
EPICentre
Design and build whatever you need for your projects. Equipped with a range of machines and digital tools such as laser cutting, water jet cutting and 3D printers, EPICentre is mainly used by our art, design, IT, occupational therapy, engineering and trades students.
Food and hospo training areas
What better way to learn the art of hospitality than by experiencing food service and customers first-hand? Hone your skills and showcase your baking and barista talents in our training kitchen and café. And, enjoy the chance to serve up delish street food in our food truck (a collaboration between our design and engineering students!)
IT game development studio
Tech is everywhere! Our Dunedin Campus is home to our game development studio. Enjoy the chance to build, design and play games as part of your qualification.
