Bachelor of Architectural Studies 

The degree offers specialisations in Architectural Technologies and Interior Architecture. 

Year 2 has a full year option. Year 3 operates in an individualised semester structure. Limited options are available for study abroad and exchange students in these fields. Enquiries welcome. 

Semester One 

Year 2 

*Construction and Documentation knowledge as well as Revit is a compulsory pre-requisite

Architectural Technologies (30 credits) 

Further develop your knowledge of relevant aspects of building technologies in order to solve problems as applied to the built environment. 

Architectural Design Studio 2 (30 credits) 

Extend your understanding of architectural form, space and geometry, surface and textures. Apply theory to real-world scenarios. 

Documentation Studio 2 (30 credits) 

Further develop your understanding of methodologies, techniques and processes to present, organise and communicate architectural solutions clearly and appropriately. 

Elective (15 credits) 

  • A range of options available. 

Year 3 

Research Project (15 credits) 

Develop the skills to conduct and report research under supervision. 

Elective (15 credits) 

  • Architectural Design Studio 3 (15 credits) 
  • Develop the theory and practice of the design of architecture. 

Semester Two

Year 2 

Contextual Studies 2 (15 credits) 

Extend your ability to research, analyse and discuss theories shaping creative practice across a range of cultural and historical contexts. 

Architectural Technologies (30 credits) 

Further develop your knowledge of relevant aspects of building technologies in order to solve problems as applied to the built environment. 

Architectural Design Studio 2 (30 credits)

Documentation Studio 2 (30 credits) 

Further develop your understanding of methodologies, techniques and processes to present, organise and communicate architectural solutions clearly and appropriately. 

Year 3 

Study Major (30 credits) 

To provide opportunities for students to apply architectural design or documentation activity, and to generate their own focus of study and work independently in a self-directed manner.

Sustainable Practice 

To enable students to evolve as sustainable practitioners by developing a theoretical and practical understanding of community resilience, place identity and sustainable material cultures. 

Computer Aided Communication 2 

To enable students to draw, manipulate, customise and manage complex 3D Computer Aided Design Drawings/graphics employing a variety of currently available software packages used by the industry. 

Building Typologies 

To enable students to employ different building typologies and key design considerations. 

Restoration and Conservation 1 

To explore a range of techniques and principles required for solving design problems relating to the restoration and conservation of buildings.
