Due to heavy traffic around the university, the Otago Regional Council, Dunedin City Council and NZTA have been looking at ways to improve traffic flow.
From Wednesday 20 February, the Port Chalmers to City (No 14) and Balaclava – City – Logan Park (No 63) buses will run different routes around the University area to help ease traffic congestion in the area.
Instead of using Clyde Street and Union Street, these two services will run along Albany Street to Anzac Avenue in both directions. There are two temporary stops near the Otago University music building in Albany Street. The current stop on Union Street East outside the College of Education and the northbound stop on Clyde Street have been closed.
This will help all the bus services running through this area run on time and also relieve some of the congestion around the Clyde Street, Union Street intersection.
