Winter School overseas scholarships and programme packages (Dec – Mar)
Experience a new culture and make valuable international connections that can last a lifetime.
A number of Otago Polytechnic’s partner institutions around the world offer programme packages (of between 2-4 weeks) during our summer holidays (Dec/Jan onwards). These block courses are usually school and degree/diploma specific and credit bearing – so can be credited back to your study at OP on discussion with your school. These programme packages are designed for international students and are delivered in English. There is a programme fee, but it covers tuition, activities/trips, accommodation (usually), week day meals (often) etc. – so it’s very good value.
Our international partners let us know about upcoming courses during the year, so keep an eye on Facebook and Moodle for any updates. Please contact us, if you’d like more information: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Lappeenranta University of Technology – Finland
Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) Winter School runs for eight weeks from January-March. We're now seeking applications from Otago Polytechnic degree students in their 2nd year or higher, including graduates.
You'll choose at least three credit-bearing courses to study - and you don't need any prior knowledge of these subjects to take them. However, Engineering and Business students have the option to choose courses that may be credited to their degree on approval of their School.
The Winter School includes free accommodation, tuition, social activities, plus hot lunches on weekdays.
OP student testimonials
“In this experience I was able to meet so many new friends through the many social events that the university held for all students. I remember vividly the first event which involved saunas, spas and drinking, later finding out that these three things are the backbone to Finnish culture. In completing this exchange, I was fortunate enough to get the chance to travel around Europe, Asia and South America, meeting some more amazing people and experiencing many cultures."
"Having this chance given to me by Otago Polytechnic and Lappeenranta University of Technology has been unbelievable and helped me grow in confidence, character and culture. To me this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience university life on the opposite side of the world and have an absolute blast while studying! To anyone thinking about participating in an exchange, grab it by two hands and run with it! You will have an unbelievable time and meet some lifelong friends from every corner of the globe.”
OP applications close in September. To find out more, please contact email@example.com.
