Advanced Training in Arbitration and Adjudication

Develop and apply skills in arbitration and adjudication, taking into account relevant legislation and legal proceedings, specific terminologies and ethics.

About the course

Study arbitration and adjudication and acquire the skills to practice in this field. 

At the completion of the course, you will be able to: 

  • Critically evaluate and apply different statutes and legal precedents in the context of arbitration and adjudication.  
  • Design dispute resolution processes to minimise risks for and to participants in dispute resolution processes in in the context of arbitration and adjudication. 
  • Apply culturally appropriate dispute resolution practices in in the context of arbitration and adjudication, with special emphasis on the implications of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. 

In this course you will learn about historical context of determinative processes, legal and professional standards and key principles of arbitration and adjudication practice. 

Course delivery

This course is delivered online and is worth 5 credits. It is delivered on Monday evenings over five weeks and comprises about 50 hours of learning.

9 October - 13 November

Tutorials will take place on Mondays between 6pm-8pm, with a few starting at 5pm.

Assessments

This course includes two assessments:

  • Online test
  • A case study analysis

Open entry. A background in mediation is recommended.
