Information for Mental Health Preceptors
As a preceptor, you will have free online access to preceptorship resources. This series of resources is designed to assist mental health nurses who are precepting student's undertaking study with Otago Polytechnic's School of Nursing I Te Kura Tapuhi.
Preceptorship course
This course is comprised of information on preceptorship and an online assessment giving the participant one hour of continuing professional education.
You will cover:
- A presentation about each of the mental health and addictions nursing courses
- Resources - documents, including course outlines, relevant to the courses for the students you preceptor
- Quiz - complete four questions (you can attempt this as many times as needed to pass.
Successful completion of the quiz will generate a certificate of recognition for one hour of continuing professional education.
How to access this free online course
1. Create an account in Moodle - our online learning platform - and don't forget to confirm your account by following the link sent to your email.
2. You'll receive access to a Courses page - scroll down until you find Nursing (when logging in, you need to click on the 'Other users' tab option (not the staff and students tab).
3. Selection Information for Mental Health Preceptors.
4. When prompted, select 'Enrol me in this course'.

6. Complete your course and add your certificate to your portfolio!
