Make use of our space and catering services to deliver an exceptional experience to your guests at your event.
Venue bookings
We have The Hub, teaching spaces and the Sargood Centre available for event bookings. Requests for the use of Otago Polytechnic facilities by users external to Otago Polytechnic are required to be approved prior to use.
Requests from groups whom Otago Polytechnic has an ongoing formal relationship with will be considered on a case-by-case basis and authorisation sought from the Executive Leadership Team.
The Hub
The Hub was designed as a multipurpose large space for students, staff and events. Schools, departments and external customers can book for events such as pre-graduation functions, open days, student exhibitions, fashion shows and showcases. It has the capacity to hold approximately 200 people. Catering for events can be ordered through our OP functions team.
Whilst the space is available to book consideration of the impact on students and staff during operating hours is taken into account. The Hub is available for external functions out of hours and during the weekends.
Indicative pricing
- Full Day $400 per day (excl GST)
- Half Day minimum $250 (excl GST)
- Cleaning costs are included in this fee.
- Hire Agreement to be signed at the time of confirmation.

Sargood Centre gallery and classrooms
Originally home of the Dunedin Public Art Gallery. The former main gallery is a Heritage NZ Category 1 building that had been progressively reduced in size to make way for the expansion of the adjoining cricket ground at University Oval.

The Sargood Centre Gallery and Classrooms are available for external bookings out of hours and during the weekends. The capacity is 150 in the Gallery and 100 in the adjacent classroom, or 250 across both spaces.They can be opened up to be one connected space.
Indicative pricing
- Gallery Hire $400+GST for 3-24 Hour Period in one calendar day
- Gallery Hire $250+GST for 3 Hour Period
- Each additional classroom $125+GST

Normal cleaning costs are included in this fee, but the building must be left clean and tidy or additional charges will apply. The hire Agreement needs to be signed at the time of confirmation.
