Pathway into this programme
Our bridging to beauty certificate, the New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 3) provides the perfect pathway into this Level 4 programme.
- You must be at least 18 years old by the end of the programme.
- You must have successful completion of NCEA Level 2 (English and Science credits preferred) OR hold the New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 3) Beauty context ( OR hold the New Zealand Certificate in Makeup and Skin Care (Introduction) (Level 3) OR have relevant and current work experience (of at least two years).
- Applications from mature students (over 20) are welcome.
- International students will be individually assessed to ensure you are ready for this study.
All students (international and domestic) for whom English is not a first language:
- must demonstrate English Language skills with an IELTS overall band score (academic) of 5.5, with no band score lower than 5.5 OR
- must provide acceptable alternative evidence of English language proficiency depending on the visa decline rate of the country you are from. See here for acceptable evidence and visa decline rates by country.
All scores must be achieved in a single test completed in the preceding two years. You cannot combine scores from multiple tests. If you have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance you are not required to provide evidence of English Language skills.
If you don’t have the entry requirements above, talk to us about whether you have the equivalent skills and knowledge or to determine if this is the right programme for you.

You must supply your academic records, along with certified copies of proof of identity and proof of residency (where appropriate).

These qualifications can lead to self-employment as a therapist or to a career as a beauty clinic manager/owner.
