This is the ideal programme if you want to make yourself more employable! You will spend two to three days a week at the Polytechnic and the rest of the time on work placement or undertaking volunteering work. Upon successful completion, you will gain a Certificate in Foundation Studies (Level 2) or (Level 3).

FarmHand

Love the outdoors and practical work? This 17-week, Dunedin-based scheme for 16-25 year olds is run in partnership with the Malcam Charitable Trust and is a stepping stone into education and employment in the primary sector industry. You will take part in a work placement, improve your study skills, gain a Certificate in Foundation Studies (Level 2) or (Level 3) and learn how to put together a great CV!

Bridging programme to engineering degree

Do you want to prepare for degree-level study in engineering? Then this is the perfect solution! Successful completion will give you a Certificate in Foundation Studies (Level 4) and direct entry into our Bachelor of Engineering Technology.

Certificate in Creative Studies

If you are unsure which creative career to pursue or you want to develop a portfolio for application to a degree, this is the programme for you. Develop a solid understanding of a variety of disciplines.

Certificate in Foundation Studies (Level 2) and (Level 3)

Want to develop the skills to prepare you for more study or to help you get a job? These programmes will let you explore a range of options and will give you a taste of what Polytechnic study is all about. Improve your writing, numeracy and computing skills so that you feel prepared to continue with further learning if that is what you want.

Certificate in Foundation Studies (Level 4) (Business)

  • Dunedin and Auckland
  • 1 semester full-time (Dunedin); 16 weeks full-time (Auckland)

  • Starts Dunedin: February and July. Auckland: January, March, June, August and October

Successful completion of this Certificate will guarantee you entry into our business diploma or degree programme! Through project-based learning, discover how to produce effective business documents and communication. The Auckland-based programme is for international students only.

Certificate in Health (Level 4)

Don’t have the required academic qualifications to enter a degree or diploma-level healthcare programme? No problem! This programme can act as a bridging option to help you meet the minimum academic criteria for application to the New Zealand Diploma in Enrolled Nursing (Level 5), Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Midwifery, Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, Bachelor of Social Services and Bachelor of Applied Science. Compulsory block courses are required for those studying online. Please note their are prerequisites for entering this July, 2017 intake. From February 2018, this programme will be replaced by our Health bridging certificate.

Your pathway to study in Nursing, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Social Services or Applied Science.

Certificate in Fashion Studies (Level 4)

This nationally-recognised programme is ideal if you are already in, or seeking to move into, a general administrative, data entry, receptionist or customer service role.
