This is the ideal programme if you want to make yourself more employable! You will spend two to three days a week at the Polytechnic and the rest of the time on work placement or undertaking volunteering work. Upon successful completion, you will gain a Certificate in Foundation Studies (Level 2) or (Level 3).

FarmHand

Love the outdoors and practical work? This 13-week, Dunedin-based scheme for 16-25 year olds is run in partnership with the Malcam Charitable Trust and is a stepping stone into education and employment in the primary sector industry. You will take part in a work placement, improve your study skills, gain a Certificate in Foundation Studies (Level 2) or (Level 3) and learn how to put together a great CV!

This free, three day orientation programme is for all international students who are beginning their studies at Otago Polytechnic's Dunedin campus.

Bridging programme to engineering diploma

Now you can become an engineer no matter what your academic background! Successful completion of this programme will give you a Certificate in Foundation Studies (Level 3) and direct entry into our New Zealand Diploma in Engineering.

Don’t have the required academic qualifications to enter a degree or diploma-level healthcare programme? No problem! This Certificate, offered by the School of Social Services, can act as a bridging option to help you meet the minimum academic criteria for application to the New Zealand Diploma in Enrolled Nursing (Level 5), Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Midwifery, Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, Bachelor of Social Services and Bachelor of Applied Science (Physical Activity, Health and Wellness). Compulsory block courses are required for those studying online.

The art of fixing and stopping is essential to the building trades and this programme trains you in the key skills needed to work as an assistant to a plasterboard fixer or finisher. Please note: this programme is subject to minimum numbers.
