Communication Design Winter Camp

Learn new skills and improve your portfolio!

Offering a range of creative, visual design short courses including Comic Book Illustration, Web Design, Digital Illustration and Digital Animation, our Winter Camp is held during the mid-year school holidays (11-14 July, 2016).

The courses are taught by our own in-house communication design experts and are run at different times throughout the week so you can take part in more than one.

Content and structure 

The courses are run at different times throughout the week so you can take part in more than one.

Comic Book Illustration & Storytelling 

Learn how to: 

1.  Develop a character, their context and key references.

2.  Produce concept drawings, illustrating the character in a range of poses.

Web Design

Learn how to:

1. Install and build a simple WordPress website.

2. Use WordPress and Adobe Photoshop to create pages of website content.

Digital Illustration 

Learn how to:

1. Develop a unique illustration from digital, hand rendered and/or photographic material.

2. Employ computer software to apply line, colour and other effects to the illustration.

Digital Animation 

Learn how to:

1. Understand animation processes and techniques.

2. Use a digital animation application to create animations for video or web. 

What to bring 

Please bring pencils and paper or a visual diary, and your own USB. 

To enrol

Please complete the short course enrolment form. You will need to register and pay for these workshops in advance at our Dunedin campus.

Please note: These short courses are not STAR courses and do not have credits attached. However, secondary students may be able to access STAR funding so please talk to your Careers Advisor. Enrolment in this course is conditional upon and subject to sufficient numbers of students enrolling in the course.
