Want to study in English and take part in daily life?

This Level 2 programme is ideal if you can already use English in some everyday settings but want to improve so you can study in English. 

Please note: Depending on your situation, you may not be enrolled into the Certificate level that you apply for. When you arrive at Otago Polytechnic, you will be tested and we will then place you at the right level. 

Entry requirements
  • You will be tested and placed at the right level when you arrive.
  • If you plan to study with us for more than three months, international students will need a visa.
You will learn how to

When you successfully finish this programme, you will have the English language skills to:

  • take part in spoken conversations and how to use things like simple instructions and descriptions
  • listen to and understand short, simple texts 
  • begin to read simple texts to gain information 
  • write a simple, easy to understand text. 
Next step

You could progress into the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 3) to further improve your English. You may also have the ability to work in some jobs that require a basic level of English language skills.
