High-Country Farming
Study high-country farming in stunning Central Otago and gain an extensive range of best-practice farming skills in the classroom, workshop, woolshed, and high-country. You’ll learn about animal handling and health, vehicles and machinery, pastures and soils, and food and fibre production.
Farming is just as much about being outdoors, doing hard physical work, as it is about learning specific parts of the industry – be it wool, technology or regenerative practices.
With this hands-on qualification, you'll enjoy learning outdoors, on-farm practical assessments and work placements. You will learn by doing, working high-country farm, doing practical tasks, and experiencing different things almost daily. By the time you leave, you’ll be confident, competent and work-ready.
During your studies, you will participate in a farm-based work experience placement. This experience will give you the skills to seamlessly transition from study to employment or promotion within the farming industry.
