Whether you’re interested in creative or technical gaming, both our Bachelor of Information Technology and Bachelor of Design (Communication) programmes can be studied with a focus on game development.

Seamlessly transition from study to industry with a sought-after bachelors’ degree, industry-relevant game development or design skills, and a portfolio of games you’ll create as your study.

If you want a design-focused career in the games industry, study the Bachelor of Design (Communications) and elect the gaming pathway. Career opportunities include a Game Artist or Animator, Gameplay Designer, Narrative Designer or a Technical or Environmental Artist.

If you want a development-focused career in the games industry, study the Bachelor of Information Technology and elect the gaming pathway. Career opportunities include a Gameplay Programmers, AI Programmer, VR/AR Programmer or a Tools Engineer.

Learn the core skills associated with each of these degrees with assignments and projects on gaming, developing the specific skills that this fast-paced and growing industry needs. You will graduate as a work-ready Game Designer or Developer with the skills to create better experiences and more responsive products and services, honed for the games industry.

Learn how to craft ideas and tell stories through still and moving images, text, sound, and interactive media. You will develop industry-ready skills during this hands-on programme and have the chance to practise these during community and client-driven projects that focus on positive social and environmental change. In year one, you’ll study a broad range of different media to discover where your strengths lie before choosing your speciality for years two and three.
