Study Sports Turf Management, or Groundskeeping, at Otago Polytechnic and get the knowledge and experience to work on a range of top sporting landscapes around the globe.
A Sports Turf qualification from Otago Polytechnic will provide you with the technical and functional knowledge you need to manage and maintain golf courses, bowling greens, cricket wickets rugby, soccer, and hockey fields, as well as artificial turf.
We offer New Zealand’s only full-time Sports Turf programme and have a specialist outdoor training area. You’ll learn the theory behind turf and look after playing grounds for a range of different sports. With a focus on work experience, you’ll earn as you learn, gaining the practical skills you need while making important industry contacts for your future.

This programme will take you through technical skills such as soil science, plant biology, machinery maintenance, irrigation and drainage, construction and surveying, supervision of staff and financial planning. Study at our Central Otago Campus, then complete a paid, practical internship at one of New Zealand’s top golf or stadium venues.Duration
