Prepare to work as a Digital Health Aide in Aotearoa New Zealand.

This Certificate will enable you to gain competency with digital tools and to gain a deeper understanding of working with health conditions that affect New Zealand children. It will prepare you for providing professional and confidential digitally-aided healthcare assessments. 

It will give those already working with children a chance to gain further skills in the health field and provide opportunities for the children they work with to receive more timely health treatments.  

Entry requirements
  • There are no academic entry criteria for this programme.  
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. 
  • Applicants must meet the requirements of The Children's Act 2014. 

Please note

Learners must be registered with the Moko Foundation for access to the app used in this Certificate. For those who are wanting to do this, they will need to contact the Moko Foundation initially. 

Additional costs

You will need to have access to a thermometer, scales and height measuring equipment. You will also need an iPad or tablet, as well as any other device (such as a laptop) to complete course work. 

Your workload

Your part-time workload will consist of approximately 12.5 hours per week over 16 weeks. 

Certificate structure

This Certificate is delivered in three modules.

Each module has particular learning activities which are to be completed in an ePortfolio using OneNote Class Notebook. Modules and learning activities must be completed in sequential order. All learning activities must be completed for the learner to pass the Certificate. 

Modules
Learning Outcome 1: By the end of this course, you will be able to perform initial clinical assessments and specific health checks using basic medical equipment.
Learning Outcome 2: By the end of this course, you will be able to accurately report health issues and concerns through the use of a digital application.
Learning Outcome 3: By the end of this course, you will be able to demonstrate and reflect on ethical and professional practice, underpinned by the values of aroha, whakamana, tika and whanaungatanga, when working in the role of Digital Health Aide.

This is a stand-alone Certificate and doesn't lead into any further qualification specifically.
