This course includes the unit standard 17285: Demonstrate knowledge of coffee equipment and recipes.
There is a short theory assessment at the end of the day on the unit standard. If successfully completed, participants will be awarded an Otago Polytechnic 'Record of Achievement' Certificate.
Trish Wilson will run this short course.
Trish has more than twenty five years’ experience working in the hospitality industry, both in New Zealand and in Europe.
During this time, Trish has worked as an Executive Chef in three busy cafés, has owned her own catering business and managed her own café. Over the years she has made many coffees and learnt many skills and tips by working alongside some highly-skilled Baristas.
Trish has many years of Otago Polytechnic Catering and Barista lecturing experience at both the Central Otago and Dunedin campuses. She also teaches on our Trades Academy Hospitality programme and our STAR programmes for high school students which includes Food Safety courses and Barista training. Trish has also trained front of house students to a national level for the Toque D’Or competition which is held in Auckland each year.
