Want to perfect your coffee-making skills? You'll learn about the origin and production of coffee and explore a range of espresso-style beverages. You'll also understand the common issues that arise when making these beverages.

This STAR course is for high school students in years 11 – 13. Check out our STAR courses page for more information.

Note: These courses are run subject to minimum numbers enrolling. We recommend that you complete STAR - Barista skills Level 2 before you enrol in this course, however, this is not compulsory.


What you'll learn

Unit 17284 - 3 credits: Demonstrate knowledge of coffee origin and production

Unit 17288 - 5 credits: Prepare and present espresso beverages for service

Total: 8 credits at Level 3

This two-day course runs from 9.00am until 3:30pm both days.


What to bring with you

Please bring a highlighter pen, ballpoint pen and some paper. You also need to wear fully enclosed leather/pleather shoes – no heels – and wear pants or a skirt that goes below the knee. You will be working within a commercial environment and are required to comply with our health and safety and food safety requirements at all times.
