Gain a good understanding of what the key pests, diseases and disorders that adversely affect growing and production are and learn how to manage them. This is good knowledge for any horticulturist or viticulturist to acquire and you will learn about the pests, diseases and disorders in relation to your specific sector.

Dates

This is a five day course with each day running from 9.00am-3.00pm. 

The 2017 start dates are to be confirmed.

Content
  • Identify and describe plant pests, diseases and disorders, and methods of prevention and control (8 credits)
  • Recognise plant pests, diseases and disorders and beneficial organisms (6 credits). 
Materials and clothing

Please wear warm clothing suitable for learning in an outdoor environment. All materials and equipment are supplied for this course. 

Assessment

These courses are based around unit standards within the National Certificate in Horticulture (Level 4) qualification. If you wish to officially gain the unit standard(s), you can sit an assessment and will receive a certificate recognising your achievement.

If you are learning for interest, you do not have to sit an assessment and will receive a Certificate of Attendance to demonstrate that you completed the course.
