Learn how to interpret weather maps and the implications of these maps for growers.

Discover key concepts related to weather, climate and frost and gain a grower’s interpretation of frost control and the specific techniques needed to manage frost when growing crops. 


This is a three day course with each day running from 9.00am-3.00pm. The next course runs:

  • Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 May, and
  • Tuesday 27 June, 2017. 
  • Monitor and interpret weather information (4 credits)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of frosts and frost protection methods for viticulture (5 credits).
Materials and clothing

Please wear warm clothing suitable for learning in an outdoor environment. All materials and equipment are supplied for this course. 


These courses are based around unit standards within the National Certificate in Horticulture (Level 4) qualification. If you wish to officially gain the unit standard(s), you can sit an assessment and will receive a certificate recognising your achievement.

If you are learning for interest, you do not have to sit an assessment and will receive a Certificate of Attendance to demonstrate that you completed the course.
