Farming and Primary Industry

Get hands-on experience in Central Otago working in fruit production, viticulture, dairy or high country farming. Farming has been included in the government’s new Targeted Training and Apprenticeship Fund (TTAF), which means it's fully funded until 2022.


New Zealand Certificate in Primary Industry Skills (Level 2)

This programme allows you to get hands-on experience working in either fruit production, viticulture or dairy farming. Your learning is supported by industry who recognise the importance of a practically-skilled workforce. This means that you will be well-prepared to work as the knowledge and skills you gain are industry-relevant and up-to-date.  

High country farming (Level 3) - TTAF funded

Farming careers are fun and rewarding and there is strong demand nationally for passionate people who want to work with livestock in the farming industry. This Central Otago-based qualification is the only farming training programme in New Zealand with a high country flavour. Graduates of this programme will receive both the New Zealand Certificate in Agriculture (Farming Systems) (Level 3) and New Zealand Certificate in Agriculture (Vehicles, Machinery and Infrastructure) (Level 3).
