IF YOU'RE STILL AT SCHOOL

Otago Secondary-Tertiary College (previously Trades Academy)

Otago Secondary-Tertiary College (OSTC) gives secondary school students a head start to achieving career-based qualifications while still at school.

If you’re a Year 11-13 secondary school student in Dunedin, Central Otago or Queenstown Lakes District, you can combine study at Otago Polytechnic with your school NCEA studies.

OSTC is a partnership between Otago Polytechnic and secondary schools in the Otago region.

STAR courses

STAR stands for Secondary Tertiary Alignment Resource – a fancy name for funded short courses for secondary school students.

If you're in year 11, 12 or 13, you could enrol in our STAR courses, learn new skills and gain credits towards a qualification.

Talk to your school's career advisor about the range of STAR courses we offer, and whether they're right for you.

See the range of STAR courses here >

Gateway

If you want to get experience in a workplace, talk to your career advisor about Gateway - a structured work experience that your school organises for you. This is another great way for you to gain credits and practical skills, while you get real-world experience.
